Two entries on that list are newer than most brand lists on the internet, and both matter if you are shopping right now.
York, Coleman and Luxaire are Bosch now. Bosch closed its purchase of Johnson Controls’ residential and light commercial HVAC business at the start of August 2025, an $8 billion deal and the largest in Bosch’s history. Guides still filing York under Johnson Controls are describing a company structure that no longer exists.
Frigidaire and Maytag air conditioners are Rheem now. Rheem acquired Nortek Global HVAC from Madison Industries in October 2024 and folded it into its Global Air division. So an appliance brand you know from kitchens is, in HVAC, built by the same company as Ruud.
