Citrus Heights only became a city on January 1, 1997, but the houses are much older than that. Former orchards and ranch parcels were subdivided in the mid-1950s into single-story ranch homes on curving cul-de-sacs, and that pattern carried through the 1960s and into the 1970s. Sunrise Mall opened in 1971 at Sunrise and Greenback and the city grew around it.
So when we take a call in Citrus Heights we already know a lot before we arrive. The house is probably sixty years old. The air conditioner is probably not original, it is on its second or third replacement. And the ductwork under the house or in the attic very likely is original, or close to it.
