If it is a capacitor, contactor or fan motor, repair it, that is a cheap part. If the compressor has failed or there is a significant refrigerant leak, replacement is almost always the better math on a system that old, particularly with R-410A being phased down. Many Sun City Roseville homes are in exactly this position because the community was built between 1995 and 2000.
